GASSER CHAIR COMPANY SUPPLIES 1,180 SLOT STOOLS TO REVAMPED THISTLEDOWN RACINO IN CLEVELAND, OHIO
90-year-old historic racing establishment has reopened after $88 million revamp
CLEVELAND, OHIO (April 30, 2013) – Youngstown, Ohio-based Gasser Chair Company, one of the United States’ top designers and manufacturers of seating products for gaming and hospitality venues worldwide, has completed the production and delivery of more than 1,180 gaming stools to ThistleDown Racino, the nearly 90-year-old Thoroughbred racetrack-turned-racino located in Cleveland, Ohio. After an $88 million investment and months of renovations by Caesars Entertainment, ThistleDown, originally opened in 1931, was reopened in early April 2013 ready to usher in a new era in its storied history.
The new ThistleDown Racino features a 57,000-square-foot gaming floor with nearly 1,200 slot machines, as well as new dining and nightlife options. Located on 128 acres 10 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland, ThistleDown will continue to offer live racing from April through November at its one-mile oval racetrack, as well as simulcast racing year-round.
Ensuring that ThistleDown customers have a comfortable spot to sit, play and relax was and is a top priority of the racino, thus, its management tapped industry leader Gasser Chair Company to manufacture its casino seating. The stylish slot stool is manufactured with an aluminum base construction, ergonomic contour seat and flex-back technology with lumbar support for player extended comfort. Every stool was manufactured in the U.S.A. at Gasser's energy-efficient production facility in Youngstown, Ohio.
“We are extremely pleased with the successful execution and debut of Gasser chairs at the famed ThistleDown Racino,” said Roger Gasser, Sales and Development Manager with Gasser Chair Company. “It is yet another significant milestone in our continued partnership with Caesars Entertainment.”
Gasser’s gaming history stems from a 1960s meeting between George Gasser, co-founder of Gasser Chair Company, and Bill Harrah, founder of Harrah’s, now known as Caesars Entertainment, when George loaned Bill 10 chairs to place at slot machines, a game traditionally played standing up. The two discovered that if a customer is seated in a comfortable chair, the longer he or she will continue to play.
Today, the casino industry ranks as one of Gasser Chair Company’s largest markets. Gasser chairs can be found in casinos, country clubs, ballrooms and restaurants throughout the world, always ready to keep customers seated comfortably.
